Photography As Art From a Different Perspective. http://www.squibnocketphotography.com/blog/2016/5/photography-as-art-from-a-different-perspective My wife Lynn and I love going to the American Swedish Institute in Minneapolis. We had heard that a famous watercolor artist Lars Lerin from Sweden had an exhibit there. It was our 40th wedding  anniversary so we set aside a day to just hang out together. Lynn loves strolling through art museums as much as I do we connect there in a way that gives us both joy and inspiration, for Lynn is an artist in her own right and though she would deny it, is more creative than me. She is always quietly creating something.

I like to find out as much as I can about artists and how they work. So I was lucky to find someone at ASI who knew a great deal about Lars Lerin. They had a video on Lars and he talked about his art and what motivated him. As I looked at his work I said to Lynn, " I think he photographs what he is going to paint and he paints off the photographs." Sure enough that is exactly what he does. Lerin uses photography to inspire his work. Its just another tool in the tool box. I thought what if we could of had this moment with Leonardo da Vinci? What would we have found out about his creative process?

I love to paint, it seems to center me. It doesn't have to be painting I just have to create. I do not feel connected to this world if I don't create. I get restless. So like all you artists out there I create. I believe we were all born to create because Our Creator planted that seed in us.

But, why talk about it check out Lars Lerin's watercolor art....beautiful.

Photography as Painted Art Part 2 http://www.squibnocketphotography.com/blog/2016/5/photography-as-painted-art-part-2 I want to continue to talk about photography as painted art

because I think it is an untapped part of the photography world.

It is going to become more mainstream I believe as this art becomes more respected.

I always seem to be just ahead of the times when it comes to new technology and I

find that it takes maybe 5 or more years before things seem to catch up although the gap

is closing as technology moves ever faster.

I read just the other day that some people have through technology copied the

painting style of Rembrandt so that they can create new works that have

tricked the experts into thinking it is a lost piece of his work.

Technology, I believe will never replace true art created by the hand of man

but the lines are going to become blurred. Until that time though make room in

your life for art of all kinds. Find art that makes you feel good, challenges you.

Here is another piece I did of my good friend Tim Lemmens an artist in the

purist form. Possibly one of my favorite pieces I have done so far.

Photography As Painted Art http://www.squibnocketphotography.com/blog/2016/4/photography-as-painted-art Have you ever dreamed of having an artist paint your Portrait? Well I can tell you right now that it would cost you thousands of dollars to have an artist call you in for multiple sittings to do a portrait that looked exactly like you. Oh and there are few artists that could do it. It takes years of schooling and raw talent to paint something as beautiful as this.

By photographing you in beautiful light, digitally painting your portrait and than printing your painting on canvas you wont believe the results. The brushstrokes are all there and the deep rich colors and you wont have to sit for hours and days to have a beautiful painting hanging on your wall. Best of all you don't have to be one of the 1% to have beautiful art in your home that is personal and one of a kind. Imagine what people will think when they see art on your walls that is so intimate and personal.

I love art, if you came into my home you would see it hanging on my walls all over, most of it created by me.

I would love to create something like this for you. Call us for a private consultation you will be surprised just how affordable beautiful personal art is.

How to choose the right size print for your wall http://www.squibnocketphotography.com/blog/2016/4/how-to-choose-the-right-size-print-for-your-wall

I think a picture speaks a thousand words.

Our clients sometimes struggle with the size of am image. What size would look right in my home? Too many times our clients will undersize their images and frankly it doesn't fit the space. Its a common problem one that us photographers spend countless hours explaining when a simple image will say it better than we ever could. So we often use this chart to help them visualize the art we create and how it will look in the space they are trying to fill. Simple yes? A picture speaks a thousand words.

Hey Grads http://www.squibnocketphotography.com/blog/2015/3/hey-grads Hey Grads,Its that time of year again, time to think Graduation Photo's. Actually anytime of the year is a good time really. Don't be bound by tradition, make your own tradition. Some of you love winter others summer and anything in between is just fine. It's about you and who you are that makes you comfortable in front of the camera. Oh yeah you need a photographer who can make you feel comfortable too. I always focus on the eyes because that is the window of the soul. Sounds cliche' I know but it is true. If I don't connect there first things begin to unravel for me so I try to connect with my grads first, no, camera just talk. Its fun and I get to know my grads personally. Can't think of a better way than that. So go out there and make some great memories.
